Premature

Contributed by reprobate on Tuesday, 27th April 2004 @ 09:55:41 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

Tell me, please, you god
Is cruelty your laugh, a jest
Or just a slip of divine hand
Do tell so that I may rest

Beauty placed on this soil, e'er so brief
Sweetly breathing yet suffering the 'infernal' clock
She was but a kiss stolen from the lips of time
Fairer than any forest frond, a grace diamonds can only mock

A moment of innocence in a dire existence
This sparkling star glimpsed but never caught
Held with challenged arms and torpid heart
She was but a whisper that silent darkness sought

So tell me god from where you sit
Why pain and sadness is so blithely tossed
For this empty soul to reach and hope
Yet be denied, with life and love as the cost

Oh dear, how exquisitely lovely you wrote this piece. The loss of a child is the greatest hurt there is. The maternal/paternal bond is strong and to have it taken away is unbearable. My heart is with you.
