How much does it cost

Contributed by reprobate on Wednesday, 5th May 2004 @ 11:51:52 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

Soft, sweet, tentative, elusive
Grasping at smoke, clutching at wishes
Love, to me, is like that, so unreal, so brutal
As is what we do to try and find it

We need it, want it, even die for it
Yet, we may never have it
It can have us, anytime, anywhere
Such is the curse of having a heart

Kisses, so dear, so light, inviting
Caresses, ever warm and pliant
All in the name of that which we call love
That mysterious torment of the soul

Alone, we pine for it, as if manna for the starving
Together, we discard it like so much trash
There must a box to keep it in, to save it
That we may take it out when we are empty

Falling, ever so deep, so long and far
Tears, so hard, so very bitter
Life's unceasing plangent is the cause
Soft, sweet, tentative, elusive

Life would be so much easier if everything we wanted could be purchased. The most important things aren't for sale and hard to attain.

ooo this is sooo lovely! one of your best ever!

There must a box to keep it in, to save it
That we may take it out when we are empty

love those lines, if only there was such a box...
we could periodically open it and feed love
little hearts so it would always be there
waiting.... growing...
