To keep the peace
We must sacrifice
A part of us that can not keep.
To keep the peace we must
Have designs
But cannot desire
The thing most needed
The breath
The touch
The sound
Of a loved one breathing
To keep the peace
I must learn
To cry
On the inside not the out.
Make the tears run back
Down my throat
Not over my cheek.
To keep the peace
I must suffer
To keep the peace
I must leave
To keep the peace
Would lead
To silent screams

This is very well expressed. You made me think very hard about what it entails to 'keep the peace', as it pertains to not just your situation, but across the spectrum of experience.
