It's Not You, It's The World

It's Not You, It's The World

I'm doing ninety,
Weaving in, and out of traffic.
My eyes a focused on the road ahead,
But my heart is racing itself.

I never thought I'd be writting this,
I thought we were going another route,
But my heart tricked me yet again.

It's not that I don't trust you,
I always have.

I can't trust the world,
I'm only one man.

When you say it's nothing,
Your voice without emotion,
It makes my heart bend,
Nearing the breaking point.

I want to get past this,
But I can hear your voice now,
"Don't worry, it's normal to be upset."

That is the last thing I need to hear,
From your soft, poutty lips.
I want to hear the truth,
No matter how of my heart it rips.

The truth hurts at first,
But goes away the same.
It's lies that leave scars,
That tatter my face.

You cant get to know a person,if they wont be honest with you. Sometimes truth hurts, but as long as you know it then you can then do something about it. either work with it or cast it aside and move on. I liked your poem because it true with us all. thanks for sharing. sandy
