Gibt es so viele Dingen zu tun!
Und werd ich haben so kurzes Zeit...

Ich bin lebensmde,
Und nur ruhen mss ich,
Dieses Modernesgarten der Menscheit
Mir gibt gar nichts
Was sllte ich tun?

Und was seh ich ja? Papierbergen
Die sich entwickeln auf den Tischen?

Ich der Modernewelt mde bin,
Ihre Last sitzt auf mein Schulter,
Und kann ich sie tragen nie mehr.
Sie sprechen vor Triumph der System,
Das hat uns fr seine Sklaven

Nein! oh nein,
Es wr genug, aber ist es noch zu viel!

Ich bin lebensmde,
Und nur ruhen m ich,
Dieses Modernesgarten der Menscheit
Mir gibt gar nichts: Wrter sich reimen nie mehr.
Meine Tinte hat vor meinem Kugelschreiber flchten,
Der Schatten des Todes verbraucht jetzt mich noch
Und ich bin zur Dunkelheit verloren.
Was sllte ich tun?

Schriebte ich, schreib ich
Seit neun, nach sech uhr des Abends,
Bin ich so mde, doch werde ich haben
Jetzt mehr heute zu tun-
Und die Bro wirkt ein Schlachtfeld,
Bcher und Dokumente auf jedem Tisch,
Meine hnde schwarz mit Druckerschwrze und Weltersorgen

Doch, darum
Was werd ich tun?
Was mchte ich? wrde ich?
Mchte ich, da ich allen verlasse,
Lebens Krnke zu tragen nie mehr.

Und wenn bin ich von der betrgende Welt
Dann werd ich, einmal gucken wieder
Und lache da ich werde frei sein in Ewigheit
Frei! Und froh: frei von meiner Pein
Ich bin als alles.
Werde ich drfen nicht
Meine Last tragen mehr!

Speaking as someone not too well-acquainted with German, this seems good. I'd love to see a translation in English but I guess a lot of meaning would be lost in the switch so I'll not even ask that this be mangled . . .
