The dandelion I picked, so unappreciated and overlooked. It's a weed, a nuisance, something in the way. It is like me, and I like it. People don't notice the delicate beauty. The inside is hallow, with no soul. No one sees the bright yellow petals on the exterior with slightly frayed edges. No one notices the small golden petals of the interior, curled at the ends. Its heart, its core, clumped together, wishing not to be broken, protecting itself, like so many others. Despite its fear, it stands tall on its striped stem, smiling tall, its squiggly chin raised up high, proving its strength. Yet underneath all the sunshine and yellow lies a dark underside. The cover from its birth is black and singed at the edges, breaking its streak of purity, scarred forever. No one stops to see the hidden secrets, people are too eager to destroy it.
