IN THE WIND THEY TWIST

Contributed by steeleyes on Tuesday, 18th May 2004 @ 03:05:24 AM in AEST
Topic: political

The arrogance of some Americans
Is a true wonder to see today
They can countenance any crime
Committed by the USA

10,000 innocents dead?
Rapes and murder too?
It's not a real problem
As long as it's happening to YOU

So these are our moral saviours
The ones to set us right
No these are simple hypocrites
On your TV every night

They follow a simple rule
What we do and say is right
With no self-reflection
And souls as dark as night

Such an arrogance in depth
Such stupidity without regret
The immoral Americans
It's best that we forget

How much more
Do we really have to hear
Of their arrogant ignorance
Of their ruthless use of fear?

They don't see the point
When others tell them this
All they say we now despise
As in the wind they twist

*raises eyebrow*

A provocative one, to say the least. I'm not under the impression that Generally, Amurka is arrogant - I reserve that belief for those who live and work in the White House.

"It's not a real problem
As long as it's happening to YOU"

Did you mean 'not' happening to YOU'? I'm not sure how to tackle that.
Anyway - another entertaining read, Steel.
I'm sure this one will get you some stick.

You have written what many people here in Europe are saying. For your honesty five out of five.

Bernard

Poems like this (and a few of mine), show that America is slowly waking up.

Now what they do now that they're awake--well. . . .

Another awesome poem and i must say I totally agree with you. America is in a sickening state of affairs. If an Iraqi gets killed or tortured then its ok, but if an American gets killed or tortured all Iraqis should DIE. What they fail to see through their jingoism (thnx for that word!) and their sickening narcissism. Is that its BOTH wrong, but trying to tell someone that who is so far up Bush's its hard to tell whose who is like trying to explain quantum physics to a 2 yr.old. I'd rather talk to a brick wall at least I wouldn't be sickened by the putrid arrogance that destroys them. Anyway I'll shut up once again a great, inspiring poem.
