When First I Saw You

When first I saw you my darling one, Indifferent stranger as you passed me by, More than idle curiosity tugged and jostled me, Giggling over blushes to catch your eye.
When first I spoke to you my darling one, Fear slicked body, eyes wide and bright, To take you all in, too much it seemed to matter, To get those first words right.
When first I touched you my darling one, Nervous breath clutching a throat too dry, Excited at electrifying, soft caresses, Not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
When first I lay with you my darling one, Blood pumping along filigree wires of pain And pleasure down a razors edge of time, In a moment, gone, yet a pure memory of love to remain.
When first you left me my darling one, Disbelief, followed by the sharp slap of sorrow, Till tears finally bring numbness in the folds of night, And a desperate prayer youd come back tomorrow.
When first I see another my darling gone, Will I have the courage to look again? Can our moment of love shared outstay the loss, And give strength to let hope overcome the pain?
