Mercy Tools

Topic: DarkPoetry

Im screaming into empty hallways
Running from imagined fears
Gasping for air in this vacuum
As I spill these dark-red tears.

Im fleeing my attacker
As I pass the mirrored wall
Slipping in a pool of blood
I feel myself begin to fall

And its not like Im afraid
To be caught and then erased
But I feel I must remove
The primitive drive of hate.

So I stumble inside an unlocked room
Filled with shelves of sharps
Comforted by the thought of destruction
As I hold a knife to my heart.

And then I slowly recognize
That death is not at hand
This room is filled with mercy tools
Its with this thought I stand.

I pull back my sleeve slowly
To reveal cuts and scars
I hold the knife with a trembling hand
Hoping this time I dont go too far.

Cutting past the epidermis
To bring forth the blood within
Exposing tendons, seeing muscle
Contently destroying skin.

And quietly I look around
To be sure that no ones here
Reassured I end the sorrow
Weep the final tear.

Ive managed to cut deep enough
I dont need it anymore.
And this one will not leave a scar
Ive managed to settle the score

With trust.
