Innocence Denied

The child inside smiles Yet the tears still fall from ashen cheeks The innocence gone Stolen from inside. Tarnished by foul hands Screams fall apon deaf ears Answered only by hollow echoes of the past Calling out in all directions Past Present Future Carrying their tortured stories of pain and fear To refresh the memory To re-open the wound And the hate becomes salt And yet somehow the pain is the only thing That keeps me on track But Id give all I have To get innocence back.

This poem describes what happens to many children. It is bitter and I for one would not tell you to forget it. What I would say is as soon as you can turn your back on the past and live for the future. I spent the first years of my life in a state orphanage and could tell many a tale of the viciousness and ill treatment that went on in those far off days. I learned somehow to put it all behind me and to face the future, I have never looked back.
Keep smiling from bernard. |
