I am home from work
It has been a long day
Looking forward to seeing you
I thought along the way
A homecoming greeting
Your warm hug and sweet smile
Makes all the hours spent
Seem even more worthwhile
The bright Shine in your eyes
To see me come through the door
All the excitement I know you'll feel
Makes me want you even more
Yet alas, it is not to be
You do not see things my way
No understanding of what I feel
For sound asleep, you lay
Oblivious to my presence
No concerns and no cares
If I didn't come home at all
It wouldn't matter, you're unaware
By myself, I sit and think
Feeling so lonely and blue
Consumed by thoughts so negative
Thoughts of me, and of you
Wondering if it could be
That our love is not the same
Are we not what we once were
Has it diminished, and who's to blame
My thoughts of this do scare me
Because it simply can't be true
I like the picture I've painted
Of you loving me, and me loving you
