We started out just as friends,
Now for me its grown into something more.
On that night I seen you crying,
I hurt with you, and was cut right to the core.
It was then I knew I loved you,
But cannot let it show,
Because youre with another man,
And would not understand, I know.
I must tread with careful steps,
So I dont let my secret slip.
I must be strong, and fight the urge,
To caress your hair, or kiss your tender lips.
All the times youve hugged me,
When I was feeling down or low,
Have only served to make it harder,
Not to let my feelings for you show.
I wish that I could tell you,
Just how you make me feel.
Youve touched my life in such a way,
And helped a broken heart to heal.
So Ill wait for you, patiently,
As young love doesnt always last forever,
And Ill love you secretly,
With dreams of us together.
