Me-Past and Present

I have been through so much in my short time here,
I have been driven by anger and filled with fear,
Suffered greatly at the hands of others,
Been so scared and paranoid Id hide under my covers.
Ive been fostered, adopted and put into care,
Been surrounded by others with tales of woe to share,
Raped and abused, by 3 sick perverts,
Engulfed in trauma and gone through immense hurt.
Lost my biological mother, Father didnt want to know,
I found it very hard for my feelings to show,
I was a numb, confused young girl,
Who at that age shouldnt of had a care in the world.
Turned to alcohol and drugs to numb my pain,
Run and hidden from things that were tearing up my brain,
Cut my arms to find some sort of release,
Tried to end my life so this pure horror would cease.
Picked myself up countless times before,
When all Ive wanted to do is curl up and die on the floor,
Back then when the pain has been too much,
Onto a bottle of Vodka I would clutch.
But not now, now I am stable,
A very strong young woman whos ready and able,
Here to face whatever life chucks my way,
Standing here smiling and welcoming each brand new day.
I am one of lifes survivors, here to tell the tale,
The story of my life, which hasnt been a plain sale,
I am free from all of my fears and pain,
In one piece and completely sane.
Hear my words they are spoken true,
From a woman who has lived all this through,
And come out victorious the other end,
With this poem of prayers and hope to send.
