It's my weakness
That keeps us apart
Even as friends
Cause I cant help
But look at you
And give you my heart
Every time you call
In preparation
To say hello
I go to war
And fight an epic battle
To keep my heart
Beating in my chest
And away from your
Unknowing grasp
Truth has no alibi
And I wonder which one
Really knows best
My heart or my mind
The aftermath of this fight
Leaves me in my room
Alone and desperate I cry
And pray I might force
My back off of this wall
Thinking back
I wonder Why
I loved you so
Gave you my soul
And you left me to die
All alone
I keep thinking
Of someone to ask
But I know you
Better than anyone
And I finally have an answer
And I must apologize
Im sorry I scared you
When unknowingly
I compared you
And In my eyes
You knew you were better
For the first time a guy
Held you above himself
For the first time
You werent second string
To somebody else
You were frightened
When you found out
That I hadnt lied
And when you realized
That I would willingly die
To make sure
You would never cry
You withdrew
When I invaded your space
Cause you broke down
And I was there
Wiping the tears from your face
I didnt cheat or deceive
But most of all
When you were down
I didnt leave
I never claimed
To be the answer
To your prayers
Im just the one
That will always care
I didnt force you
To do things
You didnt wanna do
I let you know
With every breath
That I respected you
For some reason this caused fear
So you ran
The repercussions
Thats why Im sitting here
As I helplessly hope
For a way out of this
People say
Follow your heart
And it will lead you
Where you need to be
So I let myself go
And blindly follow
As I try to find me
Open my eyes
And in desperation
Over what I see
I realize that Im cursed
By the hand of fate
By a whim of its will
I fell through the cracks
Cause despite the pain
And all of the hurt
The endless nights
And the constant search
It leads me back to you
And your beautiful pain
Im starting to lose hope
And settle for anyone
Who even acts like they care
But again
None of them can compare
For youre the one
That holds my heart
And the love
I have for you there

| I hate to generalise but.. it's not everyday you see a rap/RnB-luvin guy who writes poetry (other than, yknow, "im down wit da hood team lalala") so good job. |
