Tired and aching,
Straight from work,
I sit at the computer and try to think
Of how to put how I'm feeling into words.
It would be nice if he was still here
To give me a back rub, and to ask about my day,
But time has moved on
And that's just one thing that's changed.
I am hitting that age where
You have to stop and think,
You want to know everything
But you have only reached the brink
In that fountain of knowledge that's
Waiting for you,
Well, if you've been there
Then you know that's how I'm feeling too.
I'm feeling lost in a world
That's so different and new,
And trying life out all alone
Has got me confused,
But time marches on
And things won't be the same,
My current surroundings
Are just one thing that's changed.
Time will keep moving, and I'll just be grasping
What there is for me to learn,
All I know is that I'm standing on the brink of something,
And now, finally, it's my turn
To try out the "real world",
To see what there is to see,
And you know what, I know that
He would be proud of me.
So that's my small comfort,
Now that I'm out on my own,
I'm just following my heart,
And time marches towards home.
