Music Box

Topic: happypoetry

graceful notes pour from the tiny glass cube
wistful melodies swirl around you
and rest on the tips of your ears
a tiny dancer waits to emerge from the crystal walls
the ceiling is lifted
and the dancer takes the spotlight
twirling, whirling peacefully
to her favorite song
the sweet fragrance of potpourri
finds its way around the room
the sunlight reflects on the dancer's glittered costume
she starts fast, then slows down,
caressing each spin
she glides in midair
gradually, she tires
the dancer stops,
but the echo of the melody still lingers
and the moment lives forever

This reminds me of the music box I have that my Daddy gave me when I started ballet at 6 yrs old. She whirls and twirls on her little toes to the music as it plays. This is lovely and brings back a cherished memory.
