A little boy in the forest Sits, alone in the world, The first time he ever held A mushroom in his hand. Of wet leaves and pepper it smells And feels like washed-out velvet. Yielding silently into powdery fibre, It captures every teardrop As his Dads ochre suitcase Half-full and open on the bed Finds its way back into his mind And he dies of old age at 7. A powdery fibre yielding silently In anothers hand.

Velvety on the pallet. The meaning of words, poisonous tears of memories past over my cheeks. |
