Point Of No Return

Contributed by mdmorash on Tuesday, 1st June 2004 @ 07:28:24 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

Touch the lips of modern fate
Check your soul upon the gate
Learn to live where nothing's yours
Lose the key to open doors

Ride the rails of innocence
Feed the beasts of decadence
Lust for all but never love
Clip the wings of lonely doves

Play for free but watch the strings
Hang your head as mourners sing
Dig a grave and make your bed
Set the time lay down your head

Drink the blood of all you've lost
Max your card to pay the cost
Hold your breath and dive right in
Join the ranks of nether kin

See yourself now born again
Birthed by fire and spawned by pain
See the world you've left behind
Read the page you've gone and signed

Hold your tears within your hands
Is this what you really planned
Check the road that brought you here
Built on bones and paved with fear

Lonely miles pass as you think
Idle thoughts lead to the brink
There's nowhere to turn around
Tires sink in murky ground

Flattened arch of true accent
Horizontal accident
Flying high but soon you fall
Victim of the sirens call

Setting sail on blood red seas
Who was it you planned to please
Do they know or speak your name
Do they ever share the blame

When is it you plan to stop
Settle for just what you've got
Is it more to dream and want
Hunting all those same old haunts

What is it you have not found
What's the jew'l inside your crown
What is worth all you've been through
What's the most that you will do

Is the point of no return
Now the place you show concern
Is the shame of all you've done
Really all that makes you run

See that shadow in your eyes
Blackened clouds within your skies
Run away though never free
Feed the fires of meant to be

Loose the chains of self restraint
Take the pure and add your taint
Dance the edge and cut your feet
Drink the blood that tastes so sweet

All these things can stretch your time
Give the words for you to rhyme
Hand you things that should not be
Take the lock and leave the key

All this may be what you want
Words penned dark in distant font
But the loss you never know
Is the thing that makes us grow

Wake with dawn another day
Look around to find your way
Say goodbye and step away
Lost at last to judgment day
