Tears

Contributed by Colleen on Wednesday, 2nd June 2004 @ 06:27:55 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

My tears are my tides
Changing always and washing away hurt
They release all the terrible emotions I try so desperately to hide
Tears make me grow from my mind set of dirt

Sometimes I try to hide them
Plastering on my fake smile
My true light's dim
But it hurts to know that it's me in denial

Sometimes I'm scared to let people see
I put on my show
Their strong hero is me
Can I still help them if they know

It's sad they can't see what's going on
As I silently make a desperate plea
Oh how easily I can
Please let me be who I want to be

Tears please help me wash away my pain
Help them see I'm not always strong
Be my refreshing rain
Crying these tears is never wrong

From beautiful to emotive, and all those superlatives inbetween. Truly a great write - just look at these opening lines, readers! "My tears are my tides Changing always and washing away hurt" That first stanza was so good, and was a perfect introduction to such a visual, poignant caress. I question the 23 before me who never commented . . . are you all blind?? Or just lazy? Anyway - great write. Keep at it.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
