My Graveyard

The cemetery is nearly full, The pathway nearly covered. Chains of stone blanket the necropolis Deaths bitter finger tickles the back of my neck
Chills seep down my spine I pass slowly through the garden of stones Rumbling clouds crawl overhead in the setting sun Gentle rain in the dark, grass slithers under my bare feet
Lives lived ages ago Countless dreams never attained Futures abandoned and slaughtered with indifference Every grave full of failure and regret
I stoop next to the last empty grave Singing my own dismal lament A cold, cracked stone bears my hopeless epitaph As silently as the willow weeps, I climb in and wait for peace
