When you see tomorrows light you will have weathered yesterdays storms. Sleep well tonight my child I will hold you 'til you wake. I will watch you and keep bad dreams at bay. As you open your eyes though dear I must go as I am only a dream. You must have known that I couldn't have stayed no matter what I'd wanted. So now I must walk away but know I'll miss you. So until next time you sleep I will be in the shadows waiting for you.

. . . maybe I understand it . . . probably not. Or rather, in a different way . . . oh, well.
It was beautiful and would have been if it were written in gobbledegook and I didn't understand a word . . . so, from someone who probably doesn't understand . . . my compliments.

I really like the way it started. Even if I don't know the personal story behind it, I think poems are supposed to be individually interpreted by the individual reader... right?
Anyway I love simple, understated verses. 'Emotional poetry' was the right category.
Except: dear I must go for as I am - should you have removed either the "for" or the "as"? |

This is just beautiful. i reall y enjoyed it. So
heartfelt and whimsical.....
i also had a little difficulty with the line
" dear I must go for as I am"
Had to reread it a couple of times and even
then it just didn't sit right with me. |

Hmm. To me this comes home as the things my imagination dreams about, and hopes for as well. Even, or perhaps especially, when times are rough. I've always found a sort of peace when I can finally end the weariness of the day, and it is not necessarily sleep.
But I have no real idea as to your feelings on this! Whatever they are, I like it much.
