I Had No Idea...

Contributed by MilitaryPrince on Saturday, 5th June 2004 @ 08:41:46 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Tears now suddenly blind my vision
I have to believe his soul has risen
But his soul my eyes can't see
The only things in this dark room
Are his still body and me.

How could life ever get that bad?
I had no idea his soul was so sad...
What on earth could this cruel world have done?
To make his last breath, interrupted by a gun...

Holding him so tight in my arms
Tears flow unchecked down my face
My friends split-second decision
Has made this our last embrace

I had us pictured up till the end
We were two old men, still side by side
Now it seems my plans must change
That day he left, something inside me died

I have no idea where my life's headed
Ive lost the friend that can't be replaced
Now my heart tries to search for joy
But never seems to find a trace

Each day you ask me how Im doing
I tell you Ill make it...Ill be just fine
But if you could see inside my soul
There are millions of unshed tears you'd find...

This poem is a very sobering piece. I hope it is an idea and not a reality,

"All we can do is give our heart
only our lives are in control
but even then hard times will start
and bitterness eat at our souls
let not our hope vanish in the winds
of lost and unmade dreams in us
let not sadness force us in
to laments that're not meant for us"

Wow this is a great poem, very dark and powerful, hope this is not from first hand experience, just great use of imagination,

Wow. This poem brought me to tears. Although I dont really have very many friends, everytime I've ever thought or acted upon a thought of committing suicide, YPDC has been my reason to stick it out. This poem is amazing. I am very sorry for the loss of your friend (if this is true), and thank you for a little more insight on how others feel.

I cried....
Nobody should ever have to go through something like that. I'm so sorry.
It was very well written.

Very touching and heartfelt. If this is a factual piece, then I offer condolences.
A highly thoughtful and emotional work.
Well written.
