A SMALL GIRL
OPENED HER EYES TO KNOW WHO IS SHE
LOOKED HERE AND THERE
TO FIND WHO IS 'THEE'
LOOKED UP AND DOWN
TO SEE WHERE SHE STANDS
MEASURED EAST TO WEST
TO FIND HER LIMITS
AIMED FORWARD
TO FORGET ABOUT MISERIES
LOOKED BACKWARD, PRESENT
TO KNOW WHO IS HER'S
SPENT HALF OF HER AGE
FINDING ANSWERS TO THESE FEW
AND WHEN CLOSED HER EYES
SHE BELIEVED SHE IS IN THE BEAUTIFUL WORLD
BUT WHEN OPENED HER EYES AGAIN
ASKED TO HERSELF - 'WHO AM I?'
