Breaking free of the mantle
That froze emotional time.
Taking small steps
Realizing that not all can be handled
At life's moments wish.
My tired soul awakening
From the state which it slept.
Breaking free from chains
The heart of a survivor...
Breaking free from the darkness
Believing that joy lives on,
In spite of the dark filled night.
Raising my voice, breaking the silence.
Knowing that even through trauma
We all have a choice.
The heart of a survivor...
A heart that can emcompass
The love and strength of God.
The heart of a survivor in me.
