Ronald Reagan

.
Ronald Reagan

The 40th president of the United States
A simple yet elegant man
Whose vision changed the world
And flames of liberty would fan

A plain and straight shooter
Whose words were simple and direct
Who meant the things he said
And character was not suspect

A president who awakened
The American sense of pride
Not with arrogance
But simple principles held deep inside

Such as freedom is never easy
Nor should it be left up to fate
If freedom is to endure
Take a stand before its too late

Compromise of principle
No matter how small it might be
Is never a good thing
But weakness an enemy will see

Today I mourn the passing
Of Ronald Reagan president
And I feel the searing pains
Of sadness and regret

But of despair I shall not write
Nor hang my head in sorrow
But celebrate his legacy
In the freedoms of tomorrow

Good speed my friend
Long youll be cherished in this place
Now take your rest
Nestled in Gods grace

Oh My there will never be enough BRAVOS i could ever give for this wondertful poem. You said it all and it was in words that were just right......I'll bet anything he will go down in History as the best president in the 20th century........I wrote......"He was our friend, and our tears will never end!"
And the fine example he set for us all when it came to treating his wife life he adored. The way a man treats his wife is how he will treat his nation........when he is elected president.
May he rest in peace......this poem deserves all the marks!
Marvelously done!
love
consue

A wonderful... and true tribute to a wonderful man! Thank you for putting it into words for all of us to share. I tend to be a loner, too.
I think I've read some of your writing before this. I'll keep my eyes open for more of your good work. A friend, Bizzy

I enjoyed this poem Russ, a wonderful tribute and I especially loved this part:

But of despair I shall not write
Nor hang my head in sorrow
But celebrate his legacy
In the freedoms of tomorrow“

Thanks for sharing this with us
