Time ran away today
When our hands wrapped
Comfortably around each other
As I had hoped they would

We stopped counting then
The coming of each new dawn
And the number of times
That silly sun has fallen down

Yesterday and tomorrow
Collapsed gently into each other
Bound together like we were
As we held one another’s hand

The past rolled forward
As the future fell into place
And there was nothing more
Than that moment we shared

As days twist on into night
The crazy moon will come again
And we will be holding on still
Forever chasing time away

Excellent personification of time. I like time being agile, which it is. Nothing to do with an old man!

This is beautiful. I'm so drawn by the cuteness of these lines . . .

"And the number of times
That silly sun has fallen down"

I see the holiday had a positive effect.
This is a splendid poem.

Memories. They can be the life or death of your soul. Sometimes memories of what has been lost are too unbearable. You spend all your time, chasing them away. This was beautifully written. You style shines through.
