This Road

Topic: Lifepoems

I hear the wind
Crying out my name
As I'm looking down old yonder road
Fearing what might lie around the corner

A dusty darkness
Blocks my view
Making my heart race
What terrors loom
Around the bend of mystery

I've seen this road before
Many times in fact
Each time I get the same vivid fear

A foolish feeling
Sometimes
Since it doesn't always end that bad
But there's always that one chance
That makes my unsureity stay

This road is long
I can feel it with each step
Closer to the dark
I scream out for someones help
To take my weary hand
Lead me through the unknown

I remember being younger
And when I'd yell for comfort
My mother or my sister
Would be right by my side

For a bit there was
The one I loved
To hold me close to him
But he's gone now
I'm left alone
To fight my fears
And walk on

Perhaps it's for the best
I guess my independence grows
To walk this road
All on my own

There is such a weight
Resting on my heart
Maybe that is why I'm here
Or perhaps the burden shall be greatened

I cannot stand this
All of the unknown
Around the corner
Of this road
