A Chippendale Waltz (For Women Only)

Contributed by Elena on Tuesday, 8th June 2004 @ 05:50:43 PM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

Goodness, your face is familiar. Tell me, friend, do I know you?
As your heavy breathing warms my neck, I see shades of dj vu.
And when I inhale (can I do otherwise?) your very familiar scent,
I remember you: youre a Chippendale a man of perfect measurements.

Who brought you here? What are you doing waltzing in this ballroom?
Are you someones special guest? Did she say shed take you home?
Youre such a perfect specimen. Should I be flattered you asked me to dance?
Dont worry, Chippendale, I wont blow your cover, Im a woman of common sense.

Youre not much on conversation: this exchange is taking place in my mind
As Im blushing fuchsia and three shades of red. No, Im not ill. Im fine.
I just recognize you and dont really know what to do no accomplice am I.
Either speak or close your parted lips. Dont you worry about catching flies?

A chiselled sculpture in my hands, such an angular American face.
Most of the ladies here would elect you to repopulate the human race.
But Chippendale, forgive me as I imagine your fully shaven chest
I must be one of the privileged few to have ever seen you dressed!

And as this Viennese melody closes, my imagination falls apart
Youve done so many calendars, you must know the months of the year by heart.
Pianissimo, crescendo, decrescendo. The music is coming to a halt.
(Ive really enjoyed this conversation with myself). Thank you for the waltz.

BRAVO!BRAVO!BRAVO!
This poem of yours was a total delight!
I laughed so hard, I'm not sure if I'm all right!
What a marvelous imagination you have
Elena.......and you put it to good use!
The part I like the best was about the "Human Race!" I giggled really hard throughout the whole poem.
What a nice way to start the beginning of my day!
Love
consue
