Pretty Things and Complete Strangers

Contributed by HellsLibrarian on Thursday, 10th June 2004 @ 12:04:21 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

A stranger is a pretty thing;
an unexplored possibility,

with myriad wonders hidden in
the secret, sheltered inner-self.

A stranger is a pretty thing:
an alluringly packaged gift

as yet unopened, unfamiliar, unknown, and
tantalizingly left untouched.

A stranger is a pretty thing;
a bright and shiny new penny

that brings me the best of luck,
if only the right words can be found.

A stranger is a pretty thing;
a book that's not yet been read,

a story as appealing as its cover,
if its author's any good.

A stranger is a pretty thing;
well, my stranger is at least-

as pretty on the inside as he is
on the outside. Complete.

I like this. As much as a lot of us look to shopping or tasting something as stimulation, meeting new people can be stimulating (and possibly addicting) as well.
