Tomorrow Left Me Behind

Contributed by TheRealm on Thursday, 10th June 2004 @ 04:02:41 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Listen to me son
For I have a story to tell
It holds my secrets
For today I have no loss of telling you
For today is the day when tomorrow will never come for me
For today, tomorrow will leave me behind

Everyman has a reason.
And I tell you mine
Forgive me if I make no sense
But when tomorrow leaves you
You will understand

I roll the dice
To see where they land
On a plain of six
They land on seven

I see everything that is there
Everything you ignore
And my thoughts are clear
At this age
I realize
I dont care

My purpose was yesterday
That I would set the package
On the steps of her door
But I was wrong
My purpose is now
The day tomorrow left me behind

Do not try to understand
Your mind will not accept
Just know this is the day
Tomorrow left me behind

I have a library
In my head
I have all the knowledge of a lawyer
But what good does it do me now

The sun will be there tomorrow
But all wont be there
Tomorrow never forgets the sun
Because it is the sun that takes tomorrow

Remember that my son
Acknowledge it but do not think about it
For now my heart shall slow
And you listen to my last words
Remember me
Once you grow old
And remember son
The day tomorrow left me behind

I think the dice stanza might be my favourite part!
