Grief

Every room has a window made of distorted glass.
He moves the curtain and stares outside,
watches as people's lives flow through the air.
But in the little room the time s t o p s.
He moves to another room and sees the same
sunny streets, flowing hair, and dancing scarves
but from a different angle.
He is so close
his nose imprints a moon on the cold glass.
He thinks of smashing and jumping
down there
so they stop
for a second.
He moves to another room,
and hides again behind a curtain.
Plain white cloth.
He touches it with his lonely fingers,
and sees that he doesn't exist
down
below.
He is desperate but "oh so" afraid.
He moves to another room,
and the window here is so small.
He shakes pulling the curtain aside like old spoiled milk in the fridge.
He peers to see people's smiles engraved in snow. snow. know.
He cries through the curtain,
yellow tear stained curtain
like a veil over the heart.
He moves to another room
weak,
from seeing and not being
but
this room
doesn't have a window.
