Let me out if this straight jacket,
I am sorry but I can not hack it,
Any longer I must be free,
To wander off and find the real me.
For years have I been restricted,
Endured all the pain that has been inflicted,
Upon my body and my soul,
It has kept me from becoming whole.
From being bound I will keep the scars,
Even though now I am as free as the stars,
Free to be me and live in the now,
At one time I didnt want to or knew how.
But I am now strong enough to,
There are so many things I want to do,
Whereas before I didnt have a choice,
But now I do and forever Ill rejoice.
I have been institutionalised for years,
Living with the past, swimming in fear,
But now I have broken my chains,
It is no longer hurt that controls my reins.
In a funny way I miss my restriction,
As living in the past became an addiction,
I am so happy that I have found my strength,
I would do anything to keep it, go to any length.
