Surrounded by the faint hint
Of yesterday.
Tired, sore
Body aches
Hours spent to dream away
Or forget.
The stench lingers with regret
Sits heavy between
The belly and the heart.
How to forge this into
A distant memory
Too much pain begets
The rage
The fear
The flood of tears.
It's still too close
And loves its company
This misery
That lives and breathes
And spawns a monster of me.
Made me a stranger
Unfavoured
And wagering a war
On myself.
Drenched and swimming in the depths
Of a great mistake
That is me
That has made me hate.
