And, They Think We Don't Know

Contributed by Montra on Sunday, 20th June 2004 @ 08:13:48 PM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

Mississippi, Alabama.
2004.
And, they think we don't know.
Even though I heard all the way,
in Jacksonville, Florida,
a black man had been hung.
And, still, they think we don't know.

When he SIMPLY returned to Mississippi,
to claim all of his property,
he SUDDENLY.
he MYSTERIOUSLY,
committed suicide.
By hanging-
So, they say.

Well, whatever they say,
it's just another way,
for them to say,
Blacks can be murdered,
'cause it's a-o.k.
Afterall, what do we know?

That Blacks claiming inheritance and wealth,
don't just want to die?
Of course not!
Why don't THEY just want to die?
Because....
They want to live,
to kill,
Blacks.

So world, KNOW!
Like we know!
That a Black man has been hung,
in America,
in Mississippi, Alabama,
2004.

Wow! Not only was it an excellent poem but it got the point across wonderfully. I loved it, aside from the subject matter. Racism= stupidity. ~Dusty~

i agree with the other comments. i live in alabama and i didnt even hear about this. well racism i think wont ever end because that is how people are. no amount of laws can stop it. people tend to think that the south is more racist than the north and the west, and i dont know maybe they are right. but from what ive heard of, tehy have some schools almost completely one race and then some schools integrated just like the south. so as i said before, i dont know for sure.
