his gun in my face
and Im laughing
laughing hard
and he hates me for it
he wants my fear
(he wants submission)
he threatens me
he shouts at me
the barrel resting on my lips
and Im still laughing
harder and harder
screaming at him
"DO IT DO IT DO IT"
I call him names
I taunt him
I prod him on
I want that bullet
more than he wants to give it to me
(my skin is fire
my lungs are full of lightning
every single thing I am
is something meant to destroy)
teeth break off at the gum line
as the butt of the gun meets my face
with laughter, I spit blood
and call him a chicken*****
his boot in my stomach
his fist at my jaw
doing everything he can
to avoid it
(time slowed
as we dipped and twirled
in that violent little dance
and then time stopped completely
as his aim faltered
his face contorted
and he slowly let his arm fall)
his gun at his side
Im not laughing anymore
and he's just crying
and I hate him for it
god, how I hate him for it

This may well be the most powerful poem I've read on this site. I am completely totaled by it. Incredibly well written and seriously intense. I have no idea how you wrote that without lacing it with a few dozen swears--- I can barely managed to commit without throwing a few in here. Geesh! (and that's no where near strong enough - if you know what I mean).
