Limbless Dove

Contributed by Mihiri on Thursday, 8th July 2004 @ 10:04:16 AM in AEST
Topic: war

Why do you stain me with blood of my own?
Why do you stab as you pray?
Why do you mock me and abrade what Ive known?
Do you wish for my face to turn away?
You search for me through & through, yet know not when I am near,
Your shameless acts are bitter truths to me,
You pray for your salvation, when your neighbour you rebuke,
You close your eyes & beg for a light to see
Wheres good reasoning? Where lays your mind?
Why do you hunt me down with such zeal & sin?
Wait till the sun rises before you condemn its light,
See, judge & act from within
Flaming torches kill the dead of the night,
Your artillery puts to rest your foe,
You slay as you plod onwards, as you grope for the light,
Why do you search for whats no more?
You searched for me yonder and found but my tomb,
Yet, you kill as you scour these tarnished lands,
Youve slaughtered the one hope that kept you alive,
Youve cut-off the two feet which Peace stands

You have a great way of expressing yourself. I really liked it.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
