A Lie

Contributed by Silent-No-More on Saturday, 10th July 2004 @ 11:30:13 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

Everything, it seems, is just the same
I embrace the thought and excuse the pain
Satisfied for the moment, but only a bit
Eyes wide open in a room dimly lit

With a sigh

I remove the battery from the clock
Ignore the door when angst starts to knock
I escape to a corner that you cant see
Knowing that I must wait there patiently

But not why

I refuse to listen when reality calls
I convince myself that I will not fall
I stop the trembling when it again starts
Regardless of the begging from my heart

I wont cry

Smiling but only in halfhearted ways
I tell myself that its just one more day
Determined to numbly say goodbye
Its hard as anything Ive ever tried

I can't deny

Making up stories to pass the time
In the dark of night, I walk the line
Creating reasons in a warped mind
Thinking that they are the right kind

To then apply

Believing logic can overcome love
Hoping reason will give hurt a shove
I go about rationalizing you away
Back into the past, away from today

Well, I try

With every ounce of hidden strength
I carry on, going to great lengths
I try to break free from your hold
But in the end, if truth be told

It goes awry

And my thoughts return again to you
For it seems no matter what I do
I am not strong, nor am I wise
And when I tell you that Ive tried

Its just a lie

This is such a great write. Definitely one of the best I've read today.
The rhyming was awesome and the emotions ran high.
I related so well to this piece.
Great write.

This makes my heart ache in a way that reverberates toward my stomach. Very touching, and very deeply felt. You have done a wonderful job of expressing hurt/pain/frustration.Thank you.
