The blackness my sight endures, As I struggle to stand tall, Sound fades like the end of a song, Breathing dissipates and Im scared, Only when I lay helplessly, it all returns,
Too old to be cradled in my fathers arms, But yet he holds me like Im a newborn, Becoming my legs as I can no longer walk,
Sweat appears upon my face, Coldness shakes my protruding bones, Bile burns at the back of my throat, After another attempt at consuming sustenance,
My stomach pleads for mercy, With hunger pains that cannot be soothed, My eyes weep tears of lost hope, As I grow tired of battling this war,
Needless rejection of nourishment As my body discards it without cause, Finally Im taken into further care, Poison is flushed from my body, My life has been saved, But my body left a skeleton.
