As I stare up at the night sky
So clearly I can see your face in the stars
And I feel these painful scars
I lay here in my field of Purple Daisies
And I remember how we dreamt of having babies
An American Girl
And a Cuban Boy
Was never what my parents wanted
By my parents, still I am haunted
This war that took you away
I wish I could wish it all away

I truly believe you were sent from above
Our dancing days are over
Please promise me that when this war is over
You'll come home
