I lay dying
Quietly pleading
You stand next to me
And pretend not to see
Silent and still
Why won't you move?
Do you not see my fading soul?
Thrashing wildly
I am drowning
I see you above me
I know you are there
Do you not care?
I'll only sink deeper
I'm losing my last breath
You're still at the surface
Motionless
Emotionless
I'm looking down the barrel now
There's a knife at my throat
You're in front of me
Not saying a word
Why no next to me?
Why so silent?
Remember when I saved you?
Or has your memory gone blank?
Here I sit
Alone as far as I can tell
Knife in hand
I thought you were there
To keep me from drowing
In my own tears
But you turned away
Only to turn back and watch
As I bring about my own destruction
