FAHRENHEIT 911: Michael Moore

Contributed by tifrob on Saturday, 31st July 2004 @ 04:08:50 PM in AEST
Topic: news

Men of Art whove something to say,
Relay the message of their day,
Tis so now as in the past,
Fate proclaims its not the last,
Some men are right ~ Some are wrong,
Some spew evil in the form of song,
Men do differ from day to night,
Some believe they have the sight,
Others seek their fortune and fame,
Preying on the weak ~ A sporting game,
Attacking the masses in the heartland,
Monetary Value the price they demand.
~~~
A man now lives in this time,
Value free unless it makes him a dime,
Political rightness isnt a thought,
He slurs his country and worries not,
His countrymen war in a distant land,
Trying to lend this country a hand,
To free a people under dictators rule,
Poverty ridden and treated cruel,
As soldiers fight and as soldiers die,
His ears dont hear their pleas and cries,
Many die on this foreign soil,
Their families live in constant turmoil,
But this man is selling his play,
Millions listen to what he has to say,
So he makes a coin and turns a head,
A bomb explodes ~ More soldiers are dead.
~~~
From country to county and door to door,
Selling his views ~ Michael Moore,
In the form of a play with clips of news,
Fahrenheit 9/11 made its debut,
A documentary of its time?
Its not true ~ But it made his dime.

Okay...I was going to comment with something you probably would disagee with it...so yeah...I'm keeping to myself now. But Republicans suck. That's pretty much all I can say without getting into too much trouble.

i agree wholeheartedly Mr. Moore has not been totally honest and took advantage of a situation...Republican or Democrat...matters not but we should stand behind our country...

I don't vote vote party ties, I vote for the man. Sad to say I don't feel we have anyone to vote for this time in either candidate. I do feel that Michael Moore is (as usual) using a bad situation to further his personal agenda which is money. I have trouble believing that the public falls for his tricks. People, wake up.

excellent poem! I am glad to see someone else sees that people like to go on and disrespect their land to make a quick buck.

In Germany back in the 30's and 40's , anyone presenting a different
viewpoint from the Nazis were eventually rounded up and sent off to the
work camps. This did not include only Jews. There were poets, and
newspapermen, artists, and many other of the intelligensia who voiced their
disagreement with the government....until there was no one left to protest.
All dissenting voices were silenced.

Then the government, under the auspices of Herr Gobbells, perpetrated what
has become known as, The Big Lie.

During the time of Hitler's expansionist plans, the big lie consisted of telling
the world that Germany had no plans to annex any further territories after the
Sudanland, and then Czechoslavackia, then the Rhur valley, then Poland,
Belgium, France, etc.

Most of the world leaders actually believed them until they invaded Poland. By then,
the German war machine was well underway, and England was just starting to
mobilize.

They almost waited too long.

Nowadays one of the ongoing big lies perpatrated by the Neo-Nazis is to deny that
the Holocust ever happened!

The Big Lie is a favororite tactic used by all governments to justify a particular action
that they want to take, regardless of whether it's for the overall good in the final analysis.
Here's one you'll be familiar with, Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Now, to my point; whether you agree with Mr Moore or not, be thankful that there are
still protections in place which permit the dissenting voice to be heard. Else you'll
only ever hear the government's side.

Like in Nazi Germany.

Stoney

Well said, Stoney.

I assume that you haven't read any of Mr. Moore's books. They obviously present a side of your government which would leave any stalwart politician uneasy.

I'm not American, but his views resonate with me, and to say that he doesn't hear the soldiers pleas or cries is wrong - of course, he may have bent a little truth here and there, but what do you think the U.S. Administration has done time and again over Iraq and their wider 'pre-emptive strike' policy?

Distrust in one's government is healthy. The men in power seek only power. That's why they're there . . .

And of course, one may say that the Iraq war was 'morally' justified. Yet, justified on the grounds of a fear-inducive lie to propagate coercion from the people who resent this justification.

The war in Iraq is wrong. Plain wrong. What's wrong with someone making money out of voicing their opinion?
