The essence of music...

In my own world again... Lost in a deep abyss, A place where music and the beautiful Night reign... I love this feeling... I float from one world to the next, Letting the morbid poetry course through me, Reverberate into my soul, And grasp my black heart A guitar squeals its darkest secrets The drums join in with a pounding heart And the Voice whispers a dark story of my life . They all mesh together into one harmonious song that makes me feel complete It takes me away from this heedless world It takes me away from this wretched body Into a world that embraces me for who I am, A world that consumes me with its splendor Its like a roller-coaster ride of emotions Faster Slower Higher Lower The melody softens into a sweet flow of sound, And my heart follows... The Voice breaks into the melody, With a delicious scream, Of the three words that I feel so strongly towards you... I HATE YOU!!! I feel free now... Boundless from your profound chains that I have had to carry my whole life... Everything is lifted off of me... Weightless... Freed from you, my revolting father... I am boundless... I am that bird in the sky... The song ends, And I am once again thrown back into this hideous life...

I could feel my pulse quicken as I read this, surrendering myself as though at a hard-rock concert--delving into my darker regions, and coming out purified for the experience. And that is exactly the aspect of such expressive forms that some fail to understand: I HATE YOU can be a cleansing phrase, offering a release that might otherwise be impossible. A great first-post! With thanks for entering our realm, -KAC- |

This is a class act. Your description of music is just so gripping and true. I love it.
Lots of love and peace be with you,

Very well said. Don't think I could have said it better myself actually. I especially liked these lines:
They all mesh together into one harmonious song that makes me feel complete…
It takes me away from this heedless world…
It takes me away from this wretched body…
Into a world that embraces me for who I am,
Music speaks, and I think this is the perfect example. Hard tock has never been my favorite style of music (I love Tool though), but I think this experience you are describing is universal for all styles of music. It brings us to an experience of wholeness, harmony, freedom, heart, and soul. It brings us back to ourselves.
Awesome!
Be True,
zenmind

I was lost within the words, absorbing the feel, rolling with the sounds inside my mind. Some thing was wrong. Some thing was out of place. Something does not belong. And then ... there it is. I started my journey through your poetry, late, and am having to catch up ... perhaps it gives me more insight ? maybe not ... but before me in print you speak of your body as wretched. And voices inside scream NO !!! It would not be possible for such a flower to be wretched. For by her words, in my mind ... She is magnificent, and beautiful.

Well it was interesting to see that at least in
recent memory you have been a great poet,
but I can see more maturity in your recent
poems as compared to this one. Still this
was a great write one that many "poets"
would find hard to match. I thought this
should've been written minus the last two
lines then there would've been some hope,
but I guess sometimes hope is hard to find
beneath all the crap so why write about hope
if you aren't feeling any hope when the poem
was written. This was a joy to read.

world record for using the word hope so
many times to quickly) |

I decided I wanted to see the very first post by the Stephy!
I thought this was magnificent! At first, (though I can quite relate to the effect that music has on one's soul, for I have relied on music as my sanity in the past) i didnt think that this was as powerful as other's ive read.
And then! WOW... I HATE YOU. My goodness and in comes the revolting father in all his slime and stench... AND NOW THIS FVCKING POEM HAS A DELICIOUS TWIST!! YEAH!! *pumps fist in the air triumphantly at the overcoming of commonplace*
good on ya ;) a good expression for sure!

Generally when I discover a YPDC, I try to catch up with the reading them if I can and I go back to read their first post.
My initial response was holy doo doo, 270 poems!!!??? I'll never catch up...but at least I can follow through with my second task.
Well, it pretty much floored me with the way you twisted the delight into hell. Before I got to the "twist" I was smiling along....even thinking, cool, that could be me in the tenth line. I was even thinking how cool it was to see how you have developed your writing style but ya know? You had that awesome thing going on from the beginning!
I apologize if I needlessly brought back any pain but I just needed to express my amazement at your unique abilities and talent. You can definitely run with all the emotions within a single poem!
