there lies a hidden joy

Contributed by purplestary on Monday, 9th August 2004 @ 11:41:41 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

behind every broken heart
and every painful life
there lies a hidden joy
that we must all learn to find

an abused childs favorate color
give her a flower of that hue
and watch as her day is made

a mourning widows favorate song
give her a card with lyrics of her favorate verse
and watch as a grin appears

behind every broken heart
and every painful life
there lies a hidden joy
that we must all learn to find

a suicidal teens favorate game
ask him over to play
and watch him live another day.

an angry gun owners favorate candy
buy him a snickers
and watch as he winds down

behind every broken heart
and every painful life
there lies a hidden joy
that we must all learn to find

it really is those little things
that usually mean the most
never pass a frowning stranger
without giving them a smile
you never know just quit when
a smile could save a life
or when a handshake
might just be
someones last hope
to be free.
