The Star

Contributed by ah on Tuesday, 10th August 2004 @ 10:38:27 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

The mist from heaven touches me softly to wipe away the tears on my face. The drops of glistening crystal roll earthwards in a curve that extends from my eyes to chin. The trace is of a heart.

The whispering wind screams of sorrow in the ears of the deaf. The breeze brushed lightly against the crowded few who are confined to the open spaces of the cold concrete road. The traffic shuffles in front of me in a frantic attempt to break free of the constraint. The scenery is identical. I have been here before.

Eyes closed, I reclined to obstruct my blind senses. Escape to darkness. Then there was a star. The affectionate light sweeps me from the box and sets me down on the grey powder next to the deep blue. The anticipation of romantic emotions in streaks to cross the night sky captured me. A pinch of reality Who is this I adore?

Truth will set you free. I adore that of a dream. I hold on by a thread with sharp nails on my fingers. Free falling without a workable parachute. I feel fine. Truth set me free. I smile to the portrait of our times. I want the star that will never be mine.

'The trace is of a heart.'
This is breathtakingly beautiful...

I find words here, that go so much beyond words. And express what cannot be expressed.

That truly is the beauty of poetry. And of this poem.
