The way you ache is almost visible As I try desperately to get you to understand Every step I make I fall a little But you may no longer take my hand
So this is my attempt to get you to see I am no longer who you want me to be
I will speak words that will cut through your skin And I will dismiss you and ignore what you say So that as you think of me bitterly The hatred will grow more each day
This is my attempt, as you hold back your tears and stare To show you that youre hanging onto what isnt even there
So Ill deliberately avoid you And leave when you enter each room You wont understand it but you will one day soon
This is my attempt to get you to despise who I am So that you will stop hurting and one day youll understand
I will do anything for you to see That youre hurting yourself more this way The more you hate me, the more youll stop loving And someday the pain will fade
So heres my final attempt as I push you violently to the floor My cold hearted way to tell you I dont know how to love you anymore
