Smile

What makes you smile, wait awhile,
Take time to see what sets you free,
Memories from the past that last,
Images in the mind you once left behind.

When you were small, just three foot tall,
Feet in a stream, licking ice cream,
Time then stood still, not quite real,
Days full of sun and endless fun.

Then certain songs, you sing along,
The things so daft still make you laugh,
All the girls, mini skirts and twirls,
The ones you kissed, the ones you missed.

The one and only, no longer lonely,
Becomes your wife, with you for life,
And those blue skies make you cry,
In every way you are in love today.

As family comes, your precious ones,
The stream is the same, also the games,
The picture capture of this rapture,
Your life treasure but never measure.

When comes bad day, think this way,
All in all you can still walk tall,
Be proud but don't shout aloud,
Just wait awhile and give that smile.

Hey..I''m still only 3 feet tall!!
But you know what, on those bad days (which are often now) I think happier thoughts and I smile..and one of those is of the short time we spent together... and I smile....
