Burning Bridges

Contributed by Nazmythian on Friday, 13th August 2004 @ 11:11:10 AM in AEST
Topic: SongLyrics

( This has kind of an early Bon Jovi/ Ratt feel to it )

Burning Bridges, alight with fire
Can't you feel the pain
Searing heat, running wild
As our hearts go up in flames
On Burning Bridges

Sparks fly, from your eyes
You're speaking with an angry tongue
Pride burns, deep down inside
Can't you see the damage we've done
Retaliation never tasted so sweet
Love's defeated, victory is complete
It isn't pretty, No it's never been neat
But that's the way it's done
When you're Burning Bridges

Your words, cut to the bone
As they strike me through the smoky haze
My reply, serves to feed the flames
As the pyre continues to blaze
I can't remember how we started this now
I only know we've got to stop it somehow
Is this something that we're gonna allow
As our hearts just come undone
On Burning Bridges

( chorus )

Burning Bridges, alight with fire
Can't you feel the pain
Searing heat, running wild
As our love goes up in flames
On Burning Bridges

( bridge )

I see you standing on the other side
We're both just victims of our foolish pride
We could've stopped this, but we never tried
And I wonder now who won ~
While we were Burning Bridges

( repeat chorus twice and fade )

Burning Bridges, alight with fire
Can't you feel the pain
Searing heat, running wild
As our love goes up in flames
On Burning Bridges ...

( This is a few years old, I don't recall when I wrote it, but I certainly recall why ! )
