all my girls gone out to play
the snow is deep
and the day is short
alone again
bring the car around
and let me drive to the edge
of my reason
allow me to forget
for this moment
that there is a noise
that is not my own breath
that is not my own heart beat
allow me to enjoy the quiet of silence
let me own it
let me inhale
the cold air that separates
me from every other part of me
from my girls
all my other girls
