Turn off the radio

Contributed by Archie on Thursday, 19th August 2004 @ 04:59:16 AM in AEST
Topic: SongLyrics

You hear my words;
you know my meaning well
yet in you heart they do not register
You close your heart
in its protective shell
and make excuses
why you can not share

Truth makes people do some wierd things;
the smart get dumb,
the rich suddenly get poor
Everyone pursues his own dream
they only look out for number one

So when you hear this song
play on your radio
and your hardened heart
moves to its melody
and the tears well up
within your weary eyes
Turn the channel back to your reality

Turn off the radio
Turn off the radio

I know that you are trying to shut me out
because my words invade deep into your heart
You know exactly what I speak about;
the truth is like a sword and it is very sharp.

Truth makes people do some wierd things;
the smart get dumb,
the rich suddenly get poor
Everyone pursues his own dream;
they only look out for number one

So when you hear this song
play on your radio
and your hardened heart
moves to its melody
and the tears well up
within your weary eyes
Turn the channel back to your reality

Turn off the radio
Turn off the radio

(Spoken)
The rich get richer
and the poor stay poor
and God keeps calling
only few answer
They all have other things to do today
Instead of hearing what he has to say

Turn off the radio
Turn off the radio

And when you read this story
in your magazine
and your heart wells up
in its selfish scheme
Rip the pages out
and throw them in the trash
burn them in the fire
make them black as ash

Turn off the radio
Turn off the radio

Turn off the radio
Turn off the radio

Keep 'em flowing..

This is excellent, Archie.

"Everyone pursues his own dream
they only look out for number one"

I imagine the person this is directed to would certainly get the message, should they have it pointed out to them.

Well done & Keep writing...

Oh this is so deep and true. It is easier to tune out than to open wide and let another completely in. Its even worse when it is unrequited.

Wonderful, awesome lyrics.

The first time I hear this on the radio--I'll shout "I KNOW WHO THAT IS WOO-HOO!"

Excellent Archie.

Sorry, have to add this, I find this song ironic because my friends have a cd out and the first song is "Turn on the Radio".... LOL

I love the truth behind this song, I love the spoken part, and when your cd comes out you will have to tell me where I can buy it up here in Canada.
