Example of Hatred!(Peter Sprenkeler)
From out of the darknessthe evil hoard arrives,
Bent and determined to ensureno victim survives.
To a man hatred in each heart courses and thrives,
They have come here solely to take innocent lives.
They shoot and hack and slay in merciless rage,
In the annals of barbarityanother infamous page.
In the worst acts of inhumanitythis band engage,
Scores are left deadin this insane rampage.
Women and childrendefenseless they cower,
As bullets and machetes upon them are showered.
Helpless innocentswasted by hatreds awesome power,
Mankind descended even lowerin that blood-soaked hour.
The refugees sought safetyoutside the Rwandan land
They fled from the country of chaos and murders hand.
And yet hatred followed themthe intensity few understand,
The refuge became a mortuaryby hatred carefully planned.
Ethnic hatred and barbaritymankind by it cursed,
The ferocity of it on this occasionby far the worst.
As always the innocent and helpless are targeted first,
Across the world this tragic phenomenon has burst.
The Tutsi and Hutu are entangled in this lethal plight,
But they are just two nations of manyuneasy tonight.
For hatred is never satisfiednever concerned with right,
Its gruesome axeit will swing with deadly delight.
Hard to imagine the depths to which the soul will descend,
Is there a cure for such hatredwhere will it end?
So many innocent lives from this world it will send,
Hatred is deatha fact on which we can sadly depend.
